The ADULTING Project is a Financial Literacy Education program that:
uses evidence-based processes
designed for neurodiverse individuals who are keen to start their own 'adulting' life.
well-suited for motivated, neurodiverse teenagers and young adults who live with anxiety, depression, and other socio-emotional problems.
The program, designed to provide financial literacy skills intervention for motivated, neurodiverse individuals who are aged 15 years or older.
During each session, the client is taught valuable financial literacy skills and encouraged to practice them during real-life activities (e.g., shopping, banking, SMART goal setting, etc.).
To get the most out of the program, participants must:
be keen and interested in learning ways to learn about, understand and implement essential financial literacy skills, and able to complete the entire program.
have the necessary communication abilities and disposition for independently engaging in the sessions and homework activities.
For participants who are enrolled in High School? For those participants enrolled in high school , it is expected that their parent/caregiver will attend a 45 minute, separate weekly coaching session. The weekly parent/caregiver coaching sessions cover the same critical financial literacy topics and allows the opportunity for sharing their experiences and to explore the weekly program content in a supported and empathetic manner.
Who runs these sessions? Carolyn Harkness hosts both the participant and the parent/carer coaching sessions.
